Book Proposal

For my book project I want to continue working with the long exposure photos I already have, and other photos I will take. I imagine the book to be composed of several photos that take up the page. The long exposure photos will be manipulated into physical objects. Other photos might just emphasize a composition that is already found within the long exposure image itself.  I also plan to explore mixing still images along with the long exposure photos, but I think those work best when I don't do too much mixing so Im not sure if I'll even use those photos.

Camera Lucida, Roland Barthes

This book discuss the studium and punctum with Barthes describes as the viewers reaction toward a photo and what draws a viewer into a photo aside of aesthetic labeling of a photo being "good" or "bad"


James Turrell

In Turrell's books, articles, and interviews he discusses how light can impact an environment and change the way people perceive the space they inhabit. I see the light exposure photos as a way of takin this concept and manipulating the way the viewer perceives light. Through them manipulation of various photos I will be able to create environments as well strictly through light.
